Ask the Expert Question: Which veteran player with a new NFL team are you most interested in watching this preseason, and why?

Which veteran player with a new NFL team are you most interested in watching this preseason, and why?

Matt Forte (NYJ) and Lamar Miller (HOU). Both were Top 10 RBs in 2014 and 2015 (Forte in 2013 too!). Now Miller has been jumping up the rankings (currently a Top 5 RB) and Forte hangs steady at RB10.  Both offer some upside if drafted a little later than their current ADP (Miller 2.01 and Forte 3.10). The six years of age and NFL work difference represent a round and a half of ADP change. In standard leagues (Non-PPR) that difference is even smaller. These two are worth watching and observing to determine if their respective teams use them as projected.

Fantasy Football Index Experts Auction League Team

Ok you may have seen this draft in the annual Fantasy Football Index magazine. I am often asked to provide my rankings and draft in their "Expert" leagues.

If you have not picked up your copy I recommend you do so. It is packed with great information for the upcoming season.

Here is a sneak peak with my team and the amount I paid for the players from the Sunday 22 May draft. It is a "draft and forget" league in that no trades/adds or drops allowed and the computer sets your optimum lineup each week so you do not have to make lineup decisons!

QB
Ryan Tannehill-MIA      $10
Tony Romo-DAL           $9

RB
AP-Min                          $35
DeVonte Freeman-ATL $33
Matt Forte-NYJ             $21
DeMarco Murray-TEN  $19
TJ Yeldon-JAX              $9
Darren Sproles-PHI         $1

WR
Jarvis Landry-MIA         $20
DeVante Parker-MIA      $12  (Love MIA w/Adam Gasse as HC)
Marvin Jones-CIN          $9
Laquon Treadwell-MIN $6
Nelson Agholor-PHI      $2
Michael Thomas-NO     $2
Robert Woods-BUF       $1
Brandon Coleman-NO   $1 (big believer in Brees and WRs)

TE
Austin Sefarin-Jenkins-TB $4
Clive Watford-OAK       $1

K
Brandon McManus-DEN $2
Sebastian Janokowski-OAK $1

DEF
NYJ/11                                 $1
BUF/10                                $1

--Some value here in Tannehill and Romo as Draft Master (draft and forget leagues other name) offsets for the combined price as Brees and others over $20.
--Freemand and Forte on the same bye week is not convenient in a DM league.

By now you should have heard PIT RB Le'Veon Bell has been suspended for four game for missing a scheduled NFL drug test. He drops to RB8 for me and DeAngelo Williams moves up to RB 30 (late 6th round or early 7th round pick in PPR leagues). Likewise Ezekiel Elliot has been accused of misconduct.

2016 Scott Fish Bowl Invitational Team

The 2016 Scott Fish Bowl Invitational (#SFB480) 480 team Pro-AM has finished drafting for my team. I am in the Funny Men Conference and the Chris Pratt League. I had the 11th pick overall.

First lets review the rules:
-12 team league
-22 round slow draft which started on 11 July
-no kickers or defenses are started or drafted
-Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR and FOUR FLEX (1 of which can be QB)
-scoring is 1 pt per 25 passing yds, 4 PTD, 6 RTD, 1 pt per 10 rushing yds, .25 per attempt, 6 rec TD, 1 pt per 10 rec yds, and
-.5 PPR (1.0 PPR for TE)

Here is my team:

QB
Tony Romo-DAL/7 (5.11) A little early than most league but in the SFB you really want two strong QBs (if not more) since one QB can play flex.

Ryan Tannehill-MIA/8 (6.02) I doubled down on QBs in my turn and got my two sleepers in the 5th and 6th

Andy Dalton-CIN/9 (7.11) Definitely early to go QB3 but my plan is to always start a QB at flex and with three QBs on different bye weeks I can do that. I estimated the extra scoring from using 3 QBs interchangeably was worth the QB pick in the 7th. Time will tell.

RB
Ezekiel Elliot-DAL/7 (1.11) Love him with the 11th pick!
Devonta Freeman-ATL/11 (2.02) Picking him a lot here. Hope he comes through
C.J. Anderson-DEN/11 (3.11) Yes RB-RB-RB and yes CJ is on same bye week as Freeman but that is 11 long weeks into the season.
Justin Forsett-BAL/8 (9.11) Starting RB in 9th...value!
Darren Sproles-PHI/4 (15.11) Anything can happen to R. Mathews
Darren McFadden-DAL/7 (16.02) Handcuff for Elliot
Chanderick West-KC/5 (17.11) If J Charls is not himself or reinjures

WR
TY Hilton-IND/10 (4.02) Love him with Luck back and a OL
Davonte Parker-MIA/8 (8.02) Drafting him every chance I get
Michael Crabtree-OAK/10 (10.02) Starts 4 WRs in 5 rounds
Markus Wheaton-PIT/8 (12.02)
Travis Benjamin-SD/11 (13.11)
Laquon Treadwell-MIN/6 (14.02)
Anquon Boldin-FA? (19.11) Sleeper, 4 straight WR picks to finish!
Brandon Coleman-NO/5 (20.02)
Albert Wilson-KC/5 (21.11)
Nate Washington-NE/9 (22.02) No Brady for 4 games....

TE
Jason Witten-DAL/7 (11.11) Love this guy and with healthy Romo
Kyle Rudolph-MIN/6 (18.02)

Which offseason development or storyline do you believe will have the biggest impact on the upcoming fantasy season? Why?

Tom Brady and his inevitable 4 game suspension. Here we go again. How far does Tom "Terrific" drop? I have seen him ranked as high as QB6 and as low as QB29. My ranking? QB13. And what of Gronk? Can Jimmy Garoppolo stay upright long enough to get him the ball? Jimmy is fine on the short stuff when not pressured. But everyone is probably going to bring the house against him. That cannot be good for the Gronk. Then again maybe that is all Garoppolo can do is dink and dunk it to Gronk all day long. I see Belichick pushing the run first mentality in the first four games.
